Karen Swortzel is entering her 30th year of teaching high school English and 33 years in education. She is a writer, having published work in Appalachian Journal and Virginia English Journal.
She lives with her husband on the family farm where they raise Angus cattle and Suffolk sheep. She enjoys spending time reading, working on her garden, creating with fiber, and spending time with her 8 grandchildren.
